Be Your Own Pet’s New Teenage Drummer, Sparks Get Censored, Nellie McKay’s New Record – The Long-Form Version – Coming Out

9/25/06, 6:25 pm EST

  • Anyone who reads this blog knows that we love Be Your Own Pet. Now we love them more. You may remember that the band’s drummer (Jamin, bless him) decided to leave the band so he can go to college. And what did they do? They replaced him with someone EVEN YOUNGER, sixteen-year-old John Eatherly. [via BrooklynVegan]
  • Censorship is alive and well, even for seemingly untouchable rockers like Sparks. The BBC has apparently banned the band’s newest single “Dick Around” because it finds the title objectionable.
  • Jared Leto is crushed when he discovers he can’t see Shakira perform at Inland Invasion cause she cancelled at the last minute. Oddly endearing. [via Stereogum]
  • Nellie McKay’s sophomore album, Pretty Little Head, will apparently finally come out, on Halloween on her very own Hungry Mouse label. If you recall, McKay parted ways with former label Columbia cause they wouldn’t release her twenty-three-song version of the record. Now that’s what we call sticking it to the man.

Outstanding news on Nellie McKay’s album. I was starting to think we’d never see it.

Agreed, other Jess. I can’t wait!
