Cobra Starship is like some kind of emo All Star Team with Gabe Saporta (Midtown), William Beckett (The Academy Is …), Travis McCoy (Gym Class Heroes), and token non-emo foxy lust object Maja Ivarsson (The Sounds) all involved in the project. After amusing us with their video for “Snakes On A Plane (Bring It),” the absurdly catchy hit from the film’s soundtrack, now they hit us with their full-length debut While The City Sleeps, We Rule The Streets (out October 10th.) The record is full of more emo-pop goodness, but strangely, our fave CS song, “Hollaback Boy” (Saporta’s coy take-off of Gwen’s Stefani’s hit) isn’t on it…we smell lawyers. Anyway, we caught up with Saporta backstage at the VMAs a few weeks ago, and he told us that though he may be sued by Gwen’s people, he’s psyched about taking this whole Cobra Starship project on the road — Watch the video here (RealPlayer required).
The band is going on tour with 30 Seconds to Mars and Head Automatica, but we can’t write about it cuz Jared Leto thinks our profession is low-brow.
