Where is Zack de la Rocha when we need him? During the 1990’s, one of the most peaceful and prosperous times in this country’s history, he managed to find outrages everywhere he went, raging with his band against censorship, police brutality, the WTO, capitalism, the Democratic National Convention, the New York Stock Exchange and anything else that crossed his path. Then Rage Against the Machine broke up weeks before Bush stole the 2000 election, and Zack turned into frigging J.D. Salinger.
An anti-Iraq war song here, something on the Fahrenheit 9/11 album there, one Saul Williams tune. Dude, that’s all we get? The world is turning to shit, Bush is trying to legalize torture, everything you said is coming true, and all you can come up with is a Saul Williams track? You should have put out three songs in the last week.
It looks like your former bandmates in Audioslave are on the verge of breaking up. Give Tom and the boys a call - do something. You’ve got two more years of the Bush presidency - God knows what G. Dubz has up his sleeve. We need you out there, Zack. The nation turns its lonely eyes to you.
