The leaking of Jet’s new record Shine On on iTunes was apparently due to some internal goof at Apple UK in which the “pre-order” setting was not placed on the tracks. We feel less bad about our chronic computer illiteracy knowing this shit happens to English Mac geeks. Anyway, the mistake has been rectified, but given the fact that lots of people now have the record and could share it with basically whomever they wanted we dare to suggest it’s no coincidence the band has posted some new tracks on their MySpace page. “Shine On” sounds so much like Oasis in ballad mode we’re already jonesing for the inevitable Gallagher-brother vitriolic spewing, but “Stand Up” is more in keeping with the classic rock sound that made “Are You Gonna Be My Girl” the only song to hear in every dive-ish bar in the world for about … well they’re still playing it.
