Echo and the Bunnymen Singer Gets Rowdy Late in His Career

9/19/06, 12:37 pm EST

It’s kind of a rock and roll truism that if you’re named Ian, and a rock star, you can do whatever you want. Ian MacKaye, Ian Anderson, Ian Curtis, Janice Ian, Ian Asbury, Ian McCulloch – freebirds one and all. So it’s only fitting that Echo and the Bunnymen frontman McCulloch was just cleared of charges alleging he assaulted a fan backstage at Glasgow’s Barrowlands. He was, however, convicted of a “breach of the peace” (a lesser charge) related to the same incident, which took place at an Echo & The Bunnymen show about a year ago. Apparently McCulloch found two fans using his private bathroom backstage and reportedly swore at the fans, threatened them, and allegedly kicked down the stall door. McCulloch admitted to pushing the door open.

Uh oh, he opened his own bathroom stall because someone else was using it. Rowdy.

You got Ian MacKaye but forgot Ian Hunter? Douche!

Ian MacKaye is a straight edge preachin pussy. He is the antithesis of rock and roll.

Ian MacKaye is fucking amazing and influential. Without Fugazi who knows what alternative rock would sound like.

Fugazi might be the most overrated band ever. Pure shit. Minor Threat had great energy but they whined, bitched and preached too much. Ian MacKaye spent so much time telling other people how to live their lives he missed out on a lot of rock and roll debauchery. Fuck straight edge!

What About Ian Brown of The stone Roses- he got sent to jail for being pissed and having a go at an air stewardess. This means the list is bollocks.

The best Ian is undoubtedly Ian Curtis- and to be honest he also suffered for his sins.

Speaking of Ians, what the hell happened to Ian Astbury??! I thought the Cult swapped Ian out for James Hetfield on their most recent youtube.com concert footage.
