Good News (Pavement Might Reunite) and Bad News (Stephen Malkmus Is Marrying Someone Who Is Not Us)

Scott “Spiral Stairs” Kannberg took time away from his study of urban planning at the University of Washington to discuss the Wowee Zowee reissue, Stephen Malkmus’ wedding, and the possible Pavement reunion. “I guess, yeah, we’ll see” he apparently said when asked if the band was reuniting. Then he clarified: “I mean, I can’t tell you. I don’t know. I mean, yeah there’s been some talk over the last year about kind of getting together eventually. But I think it makes more sense to let more time go past, you know? It would probably work well for a 20 year anniversary or something like that. But I don’t know. I’m going to Steve’s wedding, maybe we’ll have a reunion there.” Obviously we must score an invite to this wedding. Anyone know where it’s going to be? At an old winery in the Oregon countryside? They’ll probably rent a hybrid Volvo limousine and play Ultimate Frisbee shoeless after the ceremony while loyal black labs in bandanas and fledgling indie rock toddlers scamper about. Sigh.

i didnt give a shit about seeing the pixies or dinosaur when they did their cash-in reunions.
plus, they can’t go out with terror twilight as the last studio rekkid. no spiral stairs tracks on that one, radioheads producer being a dick while they made it, come on. . .

That is why it is bad to have many people like your music, or to be “mainstream.” Indie music is the best because it is too good for many people to like.
