  • This year Neil Young’s Bridge School Benefit (held in San Francisco) will feature its usual impressive lineup of artists including Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews, Trent Reznor, Death Cab for Cutie, and Devendra Banhart. [via LiveDaily]
  • Indie rock’s annual collective geek out (aka CMJ Music Marathon) held in New York City, already has a pretty fab lineup including the Shins, Tapes n’ Tapes, and Clipse. [via Pitchfork]
  • Aww! Mazel Tov to Paul Stanley and his wife Erin Sutton, who welcomed their first child, a boy, into the world last week.
  • New old R.E.M. out this week, and actual new stuff is on the way, says Mike Mills.
  • Mastodon has recorded a track for the upcoming flick “Aqua Teen Hunger Force: The Movie,” based on the Cartoon Network show – one of the band’s favorites. That and they like to eat shitloads of chicken wings after finishing a big project = today’s Mastodon lessons of the day.

Neil is Neil. His music has been the soundtrack to many lives. Mine included. He is only great because we have the same emotional range that fits with his style. That we HEAR and FEEL his music is because of who WE are. I have always been the alienated, poetic, coarse, sentimental, determined, deeply moved by music artist. Genetics gave us our temperment, childhood and life have created our need for Neil’s music. Are you not the underdog? Thank God for him or we would have been left to feed and grow with someone else’s music.I believe without Neil, we would have been left hungry. Not completely satisfied. Like we are, when we so easily blend into his ballads or anthems and come away full of our own life’s stories, held up and accompanied by Neil’s music.

Many people miss the fact that this is a benefit concert for a cutting edge school for children with severe communication problems. Support for this cause is very dear to Neil’s heart.
Please visit the Bridge School web site and contribute! Think of how much it will make Neil (and Pegi) smile!
Enjoy the show, but remember the kids!

Neil has lost his way. Is he searching for his lost youth? I really don’t know, but I do know that his current political stance is off the mark! Off the mark by a long wayy!

The first guy is right. This is not a highlight for Neil. Its contrived and simplistic. I love his music too, and I knew he would make a rockin comeback after the Nashville thing. I just wish he would have turned to Crazy Horse and left the politics out of it.

the best thing Neil Young ever did is marry his wife Peggy. She works at the Bridge school. Thanks Peggy for all you do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
