Pete Doherty Watch: New Record Deal, Possible Engagement?

8/30/06, 4:02 pm EST

THE LATEST: The newest edition of US Weekly fuels the rumors that Kate Moss and Pete Doherty are really and truly engaged. But as long as the rocker is still serving his time in rehab, the piece says, there won’t be a wedding. Meanwhile, yesterday it was reported that Pete’s band Babyshambles, who were dropped from former label Rough Trade earlier this year, signed a lucrative record deal with Parlophone in the UK. Pete has such a bright future ahead of him, we know one day he will reach his full potential. We’re rooting for ya, Petey!

Such a wonderful talent. I hope he overcomes his demons sooner rather than later!

Talent? He and is band suck now and will suck even harder when he is sober. Keep shootin’ up Pete. Maybe you’ll die soon.

obviously this “stroke” guy know plenty about lttle pete there!! people who make statemenets they know nothing about!! listen to his lyrics and his free spirit type attitude.. we need more people like this..they make the world we live in interesting!! im not saying he should take as many drugs but he has only touched on his capabilities as a musician.. he sayes himself he writes his best stuff when he is sober! he is no angel but the press fuck him over so much(although rolling stone see his talent ), i feel sorry for him.. naive and unpredictable, haunted by himself!!

Well, talented or not, he’ll be dead soon. Sad but true. I don’t think we’ll hear anything GREAT out of him again.

I wish the libertines would get back together, though I don’t see any hope of it with him signing this new record deal, and if he did do both bands, which would get the better end of the lyrics? Even though Carl Barat is an amazing guitar player/lyricist, he’s not half as good as Pete Doherty. Though this engagement with Kate Moss is a bit iffy, considering I get the impression she worsens his drug habits. Who am I to judge??
