Last night, hours before the release of his new album Modern Times, a Bob Dylan iPod ad popped up on TV with no advanced warning. It features Bob singing 30 seconds of “Someday Baby,” from Times, and looking rather spectral. There’s also a new interview with Dylan in this morning’s USA Today in which he says that Bruce Springsteen is the “last performer who stood up to be counted as an original.” Apparently he’s changed his mind, since he told us, in his only other interview this year, that Elton John was the “last individual performer.” When you’re Bob Dylan you can do that.
