We weren’t entirely sure what to expect for Willie Nelson’s new record Songbird (out October 31.) Is it a covers record? It is a reinterpretation of Nelson’s older stuff? (Most of the songs are not Nelson’s own, and the tracks he did write we’ve heard before.) Nelson recruited Ryan Adams as producer; is this meant to be some sort of Jack White/Loretta Lynn move? After a few listens, we don’t really care. Songbird is too good. Our favorites so far: The warm sway of the Fleetwood Mac title track and the slow-burn, dusty-road romp of the Grateful Dead cover “Stella Blue.” This is one of those younger artist/older artist collaborations where everybody wins.

Gear up for grub with a tripleheader of pigskin, including a meeting of brothers in Dallas. Everybody knows it’s been a rough year for her, but find out who else had issues

Just bought the album and finished listening to it for the first time.
“Amazing Grace” .. Why?!? God Why I asked myself. Then I heard the song. Now I know why. Willie meets Ween ,, or whatever. I think I’m in love

Willie is always best as just him and a guitar with nothing else. He is the most famous and sucessful musician since Elvis Presley. I wish he would just do his own record.

Simply put: This is a great album.

I just listened to a full length version of “songbird” it was amazing. I was also very impressed of the clips I heard of “halleluja” and “rainy day blues”. Not to take anything away from ryan adams, but a deaf mute could work with wille and it would be gold. Willie once again proves why he is the pinnacle of american music

I listened to a review copy. I loved “You Don’t Know Me,” earlier this year, but the newest album is for Ryan Adams fans, not Willie Nelson fans. Willie Nelson should be accompanied sparingly, but Adams’ arrangements are stifling.

Willie Nelson could sing a phone book and still make it great. Willie is a great collaborator. I think this will help Ryan Adams more than it will help Willie Nelson. I still have his last album on constant rotation “You Don’t Know Me”. There’s a good chance I might get this album in the first week.
