Today we present you with two gnarly tastes that taste even nastier together: Last night, bombastic cult sleaze-metal band Gwar received the distinct honor of becoming the very first musical guest on comedian Tom Green’s new-ish, internet-only talk show, “Tom Green Live.” (Yeah, we had no idea about this either, but apparently the show premiered in June and airs five days a week from Green’s living room. Um, sweet?) Reknowned for their elaborate alien-warrior costumes and spectacular live gross-outs (think Spinal Tap with a bottomless budget for fake blood), Gwar debuted two songs from their upcoming album, Beyond Hell, due out next week, and hilarity ensued.

I just went to a Gwar concert last Friday (Dec. 1st, 2006) and I gotta say I was disappointed. I’ve been to other shows, but it’s been a while. The last one was in 2002… Their new songs kinda suck and they only did like 2 old ones (ya know, the ones that never sucked). The performance itself was good, more action than the previous ones, but I think they’ve lost touch with the inner Gwar and moved over to the mainstream side of Heavy Metal, which I cannot stand.. and that’s saying a lot because I’ve been a die-hard Gwar fan since I was 12, 13 years strong. Not only that, the 2 cover bands were worse… one was municipal waste and I dunno who the other one was but they were pretty bad. Anyway, I’m still glad I went because I still want to support my favorite band, but they need to get their heads outta their arses.
