After much back and forth between expert astronomers, today it was announced that Pluto is no longer considered a planet. It’s been downgraded to a mere dwarf planet, which is totally not the same, and completely throws off that mnemonic device for remembering the planets, “My Very Eager Mother Just Served Us Nine Pizzas.” In an effort to help assuage the deep sense of loss we are all feeling, we thought it an appropriate time to do a list of our favorite space-related songs:
- “Hey Mr. Spaceman,” the Byrds
- “Life on Mars,” David Bowie
- “Another Girl, Another Planet,” the Only Ones
- “Ladies and Gentleman, We are Floating in Space,” Spiritualized
- “2000 Light Years From Home,” the Rolling Stones
- “Astro,” the White Stripes
- “Planet of Sound,” the Pixies
- “Sex Dwarf,” Soft Cell
- “Planet Telex,” Radiohead
