It’s Friday, and we’re getting ready to go pick up a case of Zima when we stumble on this little bundle of rad: Seems garage rocker and color scheme enthusiast Jack White is putting his Detroit house on the market for the low price of $930,000!
The fully red and white Victorian manse has been inhabited by White since 2003, and has played host to the recording sessions that birthed the Stripes’ most recent album, Get Behind Me Satan. According to the house’s suspiciously hip, well-designed website (note the baroque velvet wallpaper background, the links on the homepage that lead you inexplicably to sites involving the history of the pineapple, and the utterly random picture of Don Knotts), the home has a long and storied history. It once belonged to Oscar-winning actress Ann Harding, and also features native Pewabic tile. Neither of these facts meant much to us until we hit Wikipedia, but all we’re saying is: keep the perfectly red, white and black laundry room — it is so beautiful it almost, like, makes us want to wash our clothes! [Thanks Brooklyn Vegan!]
