Yesterday everyone’s favorite heiress caused a veritable riot in midtown Manhattan when she showed up at an FYE store to sign copies of her EP (out originally on Sub-Pop … just kidding). Cutting the crosstown-block-long line of teenagers and (mostly) gay men, we were allowed about 3.5 minutes on a red velour couch with Paris, which made us feel so special, considering that one photog was crying when she couldn’t get in and we saw Paris’ security toss another journalist-type out of the store. Plus Paris told us she liked our dress, and we totally liked her dress too.
Turns out Paris Hilton’s forthcoming self-titled debut album is just the beginning of her foray into the music world. She’s planning to launch a tour in support of the record and has already begun picking dancers. “I have Robin Antin from the Pussycat Dolls choreographing, we had all these dancers come in and I hired four girls. I’m doing my voice lessons and getting ready,” Paris told us. Hilton is planning to stick with her indie roots and play club dates to smaller audiences. “I love clubs, so I maybe want to do some surprise club things,” she said. In addition to working with celebrity producers like Scott Storch and JR Rotem, Paris also collaborated with longtime Green Day producer Rob Cavallo on several songs for the record, but according to Paris none of those tracks made the record. “Rob was really great, we did like six songs together. They were all rock and I didn’t use any of them in my album, I wanted to do something different.” Anyway, you never know, record #2 could be the “rock album”. “Maybe,” she admitted, “I kept the songs, I love them.” But is rock ready?
