As everyone knows, on August 31st Radio City Music Hall will once again play host to MTV’s Video Music Awards. We reserve judgment on the quality of this year’s event: although we could say some snarky things about today’s announcement of the presenters and performers, we choose not to. Instead, we’re starting our own awards, right here, on this very blog.
Introducing Rolling Stone’s first annual “Dark Side of the Moonman Awards.” We’ll be announcing categories for the next five days, and we need your nominations. Then we’ll hold a big vote starting at the end of next week.
Here are the first two categories.
1. Worst Video
(Staff suggestion: Fergie, “London Bridge (Oh Shit!)”)
2. Video You’d Be Most Uncomfortable Watching With Your Parents
(Staff suggestion: Buck Cherry, “Crazy Bitch”)
Nominations must have been released after August 1, 2005, but need not be “official” videos – stuff that never got released but can be found on YouTube, or something that only appears on the band’s site is all fair game. Let the nominations fly!
