Glastonbury organizer Michael Eavis has a surprise planned for next year’s festival: It will feature a band that “hasn’t played for 35 years together,” says Eavis. “At the time they were one of the biggest bands in the world.” Our guess is a Faces reunion; according to rumors, the band has been planning on reforming with Sex Pistols bassist Glen Matlock in lieu of the late Ronnie Lane. Another possibility: Genesis, whose principal members (including Peter Gabriel) held a meeting last November. Any other thoughts?

What’s the point of a Faces reunion if they are all sober?
Although, some boozed-up selections from “The Great American Songbook” would be intriguing.

the libertines need to reunite, but we all know pete doherty will probably o.d. and die before that ever happens, other than that i would really like to see pavement, the most underrated band in rock and roll history, reunite.

Van Halen – But I’m not sure we can find a singer good enough or patient enough to deal with Eddie and Alex… Too bad

The Clash without Joe Strummer!!! Blasphemy. Yardbirds with all three guitar greats, Clapton, Page, & Beck would be amazing. Led Zeppelin might work, but the only man who could come close to reciprocating John Bonham drum performance is Neil Peart, not Dave Grohl. “Haven’t played together in 35 years” means 1971. So, not the Faces, but maybe The Small Faces, but that is generally the same as the Faces.

Zeppelin its gotta be with Jason Bonham on drums. It would be the best festival ever! Who could argue with a set opener such as The Song Remains The Same or Black Dog : )
Paul | 10/31/2006, 8:38 am EST
John Bonham is the greatest drummer of all time. He blows Neil Peart away, especially when he played his live performances of Moby Dick.

Just read Ronnie Wood’s book he hinted at a reunion this year said, “all the guys were up for it,” I hope so anyway.
Scuse me, but | 2/8/2008, 9:00 pm EST
Ronnie Lane could sing. Glen Matlock can’t.
Another point | 2/8/2008, 10:40 pm EST
Rod Stewart wouldn’t do it. Ron Wood might, but he’s probably forgotten all the songs. Mac McLagan probably would. Ronnie Lane is dead. Tetso Yamamuchi is probably dead, given his Scotch intake during his tenure in the band. Kenney Jones is probably the only one one fit enough to do a full Faces set, but he’s so rich he probably couldn’t be bothered.

the idiots who are saying Led Zeppelin either can’t read, or can’t do math (probably both) Zeppelin ended in 1980, that’s 28 years ag you morons! the story says it will be a band who haven’t played in 35 years, duh….. And yes Rod WOULD do it, he has played with Ron Wood and Ian Maclagan seperately several times in the last decade. Glen Matlock can’t sing but that doesn’t matter as they would obviously be doing only the Rod lead vocal songs anyway, save for Ooh La La which Rod redid in 1999 and which they would most likely do as a tribute to Ronnie.

The Faces were the best ever live band by a mile. I’ve seen them all, Stones, Who, Genesis, Queen, Thin Lizzy, Zep et al but non of them could match the atmosphere at a Faces gig

Some of the best news I’ve heard this year, how wonderful would that be could relive my youth days with my girly friends, BRING IT ON I SAY, CAN’T WAIT.
PS. Of course Rod will do it he loves all the attention performing brings, especially with his old mates

Getting the FACES together again is the best news ive heard from the music world in years at their peek they were one of the best bands on the planet with a huge following. Their concerts were legendary im sure all the guys will be up for it.Rod will be doing what he does best fronting a real rock band.It would make a perfect tribute to Ronnie from the guys.Lets get it on its been a long time but the wait will be worth it these guys no how to deliver a gig.

Faces was a great band ,Hope to see the mates get back together,a couple of new songs would really be nice. They were a great talent, just listening to rons great guitar sound and rods scrathy voice, had a warm glammor of sorts.Different but well in tune, with out any comparison. J.C.
