Robert Johnson's Guitar for Sale?

An upstate New York autographs dealer claims to have “the Holy Grail” of music memorabilia: blues giant Robert Johnson’s guitar. The dealer’s website reveals a Gibson L1 that certainly looks a hell of a lot like Johnson’s. But we do wonder why there’s no information about where the guitar came from, or where it’s been for the last seven decades. The asking price? $6,000,000. If this is legit, Eric Clapton’s personal shopper better start making some calls pronto.

The Holy Grail Guitar has to my best opinion never been Robert Johnsons. None of the socalled photo proofs seem to support the claims – tell me which one.
Nice and well kept L-1 though.

I’m interested in purchasing Robert Johnson’s guitar. Will it include strap, gig bag and picks?

I’m interested in purchasing Robert Johsnon’s guitar. Are a strap, gig bag and pick included, or will they be extra?

I highly doubt this is the guitar of Robert Johnson, but if it is the likelyhood of it coming with a strap, picks, and gig bag are even less likely. Johnson never played with picks or used a strap, whether it has a case or not is not stated but it would be my bet that Johnson wouldn’t have that either.

The guitar in this image is not an L1 (this one is a 14 fret likely Kalamazoo), nor is the $6 million model either (12 fret L1).

If it _was_ Johnson’s guitar, which it’s obviously not, whoever would be foolish enough to refinish it would know it’s not worth $2000 in it’s current shape. Plus any collector would recognize the incorrect bridge, etc, etc…

My Friend has been left a Gibson L1 Archtop by his late father. It also matches the guitar that RJ has in the Photo. It has the original case and has RJ in gold leaf emblazened on it.Could this not be the guitar that everyone is looking for?
