Feist, Open Season: Remixes and Collabs (Cherrytree/Interscope): Acclaimed indie beatmasters outfit remixed version (plus rarities, etc.) of eccentric chanteuse’s debut with nice bits and too many somnambulant, chilled-out grooves
Los Lonely Boys, Sacred (Or Music/Epic): On Pretty good second album, tres hombres make more warm, sometimes charming pop-rock Santana could poach and your mama could get down with
Alien Ant Farm, Up in the Attic (New Door/UME): SoCal quartet get way too angsty while sticking fairly close to, what was it?, nu-metal
XTC, Apple Box Set (TVT): Gratuitous collection of so-so late stuff from great psych-pop band
The Bronx, The Bronx (White Drugs/Island): Asskicking attack + a little glam + a dash of G n’ R = not-bad scuzz-rock.
The French Kicks, Two Thousand (StarTime International): Neat little indie-rock record that pop just fine, even if it doesn’t really improve their wimpy sound
Lisa Germano, in the maybe world (Young Gods): Johnny Cougar’s former violinist explores death, indulges wispy croon and drops v. good tunes amid hazy atmopsherics on seventh album
Steve Miller Band, Fly Like an Eagle: 30th Anniversary Edition (Capitol): Remastered version of great record from Homer Simpson fave, with skimpy extras and decent live DVD
MSTRKRFT, The Looks (Last Gang): Death From Above 1979 guy (and a buddy) makes electro-funk-rock that’s better anything from than his main band has done and still just a’ight
The Working Title, About Face (Universal): Fresh-faced South Carolinians debut with straightfoward alt-rock sound and pretty good songs
