he sounds so lonely

Mark | 6/30/2006, 9:30 am EST

What would be cool is if he hooked up with some artists of substance and made something really revolutionary. We don’t need another record from a cult of personality.

tinawina | 6/30/2006, 10:38 am EST

Hate to say it, but this guy sounds like a raging jerk. He acts like the everyone should bow down and kiss his ring or something. LOL! If I were Beyonce or Christina Aguilera, I wouldn’t necessarily want to work with him again either.

mooreman | 6/30/2006, 11:53 am EST

quit writing articles about high school dropouts who glamorize drugs and bling that arent musicians. lets have features on real artists who have some character and arent obsessed with material things. talent still can have merit and credibility as hard as it seems.

the truth | 6/30/2006, 11:57 am EST

anybody workin with paris hilton is a loser in my book, no matter how tempting that money is. this guy is a tool.

tellin it like it is | 6/30/2006, 12:05 pm EST

im sick of these so called “superproducers” who have no real musical background. these people are ruining music. they cater to one side of music, and thats it. yet they become the flavor of the month, and every trendy actress and actor who have no business in the music industry anyways give them exposure they never deserved. this is sooo wrong. your padding this losers pockets and hes laughing all the way to the bank. his “beats” wont even be remembered or cared about in ten years.

you know im right | 6/30/2006, 2:17 pm EST

a measure of a man’s success is not how big his house is, how much weed he smokes, how many lamborgini’s and ferarri’s he drives, or how much jewelry he wears.it’s how he carries himself as a contributing member of society and how he decides to use the morals and values he is taught by his family and friends. When idiot’s like Storch and his clientele realize this lesson, perhaps some good music will finally materialize.

kaos | 6/30/2006, 2:50 pm EST

Hate all you want! This bastard’s got the money!!!!!! I dig purists too, but in the end, if you want to stack chips—you gotta sell ot for a minute…Invest wisely while you can Storch—the money won’t last forever. Save it while you are white hot-you’ll eventually burn out!

paydues | 6/30/2006, 4:09 pm EST

he can compose music. he can d simple rap beats. he’s rich because he can do both with his own sound-something most musicians cant do.

just a fan | 6/30/2006, 4:12 pm EST

This man is a success! plain and simple. He makes great music.

mike | 6/30/2006, 4:19 pm EST

dude needs a bitch slap

AB | 6/30/2006, 5:10 pm EST

He’s worked hard for what he has, and he’s enjoying, in his on way.

Plus, he’s giving people music they enjoy, good for him.

One negative is that he worked for, and dated, Paris Hilton.

But he seems cool.

John Bradley | 6/30/2006, 9:59 pm EST

Glad to know the musical elite of today pride themselves on social service, political action, and equality for all men.

Question: Is it the artists themselves who give a persona like this importance or is it a comment on our culture in general that money is more important than meaningfulness?

John Bradley | 6/30/2006, 10:12 pm EST

PS: If the quote “If this ain’t heaven, it’s hell” isn’t one of the most poignant statements of loneliness in the middle of a furious whirlwind of satisfied desires, I don’t know what is. That alone makes me feel sorry for the guy.

Laura | 7/1/2006, 4:36 am EST

I wonder if any of those albums will be revered in 40 years like Sgt Peppers or Rubber Soul. Mr Storch aint no George Martin thats for sure. Keep smokin Scott, keep smokin.

ty | 7/1/2006, 8:27 am EST

storch is a beast!!!!!!!!!!!!!i wish to work with him day.he delivers that heat.

ty | 7/1/2006, 8:33 am EST

your a knob | 7/2/2006, 12:28 pm EST

learn how to spell phoenix right jackass!

Gee | 7/2/2006, 2:27 pm EST

One of the main reasons why a lot of artists are not flocking to him as in the early years is they have finally found out how lucrative it is if they produce themselves. They have finally understood the importance of ownership. They finally understood that the only time they truly make money for themselves is through concert sales and production. They are NOT ungrateful, but are only smarter by experience. I say good for them. And hopefully this guy does not self-destruct but continue to be the great producer that he is.

soulchicken | 7/2/2006, 3:05 pm EST

who cares who this guy bones or will bone…its his biz…who cares if he is not viewed as a real artist…fact is he is rich…i mean RICH…and hes making others wealthy as well…remember that old saying “IF IT FEELS GOOD, DO IT”…it applies here…id rather be RICH and blogged by a bunch of unknowns than to be sitting here reading this blog and in debt up to the you know what anyday. this guy is capitalizing on whats hot NOW. and hes seems to be a greedy self centered bastard as well…AFTER ALL, AMERICA WAS THIS COUNTRY WAS BUILT ON GREED BY A BUNCH OF SELF CENTERED BASTARDS…WHATS THE DIFFERENCE HERE

window | 7/2/2006, 8:49 pm EST

They’re are many good black producers in miami thats been making beats for ever. They don’t get the same type of attention.I like some of his music but i think because he is a mix jew he is experiencing more success in miami.

Anonymous | 7/3/2006, 3:58 am EST

^^ I agree that there are many ‘undiscovered’ and ‘unappreciated’ producers in the industry, but there are people like that in any area…
Bringing his race into the issue is narrow-minded and prejudiced.

b | 7/3/2006, 12:58 pm EST

Scott is only good when working with better producers, on his own, his songs all sound the same. I hope he isn’t on Jay-Z’s new album…

Take this guy seriously? | 7/4/2006, 12:02 am EST

I can’t stop laughing, when I look at that picture. He looks like a 10-year-old, posing with daddy’s cigar and tacky orange bathrobe and shooting glasses. Looks like he discovered daddy’s tube of Brylcreem, too. Or maybe that’s K-Y in his hair or something. His publicist should really think ahead a little bit before releasing a press photo like that.

this guy is lame | 7/4/2006, 12:32 pm EST

you are so right on that call!!

Hector | 7/4/2006, 4:52 pm EST

I guess he diserves to act that way after all he’s been threw…he know’s that people need his hits to sell…if they didnt give it to me my way…I’d say f(&^ you too! He’s one of the best but like all producers, their sound gets old so I hope he switches it up soon! Matt Manna is the next Scott Storch…this guy will ROAST any producer out there…be on the look out for him!!

Mary | 7/5/2006, 10:47 am EST

He’s got the midas touch, I wish I could do an album with him, his joints are always the bomb and off the chain.

Skobambski | 7/5/2006, 12:53 pm EST

Does he put any of that money to a good cause?
Nobody’s hating. Just critical. Stop being so insecure.

Atia | 7/6/2006, 7:36 pm EST

I agree he does sound like a jerk. He was paid for his services so he needs to stop whining. Besides, he reminds me of a trout!

scortch... | 7/7/2006, 10:34 am EST

he may be rich in money but he will allways have a poor brain… why spend so much on cars or “bling” when peoples around the counrty are starving…

the king | 7/7/2006, 4:30 pm EST

yo man,
scott did beats we will never forget.
our children will even listen to his songs.
just stop being jealous.
he’s rich.
it’s not your problem what he’s doing with his money

BenOne | 7/7/2006, 8:15 pm EST

LOL!!!! Prostetic pimp pushing pirated pulses to the pathetic passive peoples of popville! Play on, punks. Prosperity can be putrid, period.

Infinitie | 7/9/2006, 1:53 am EST

As a fan of producers, I feel like this article about storch is the same crappy article I’ve been reading about him lately. Can we go past the whole subject about how much he has earned or whether or not he out with Paris Hlton? Who the hell cares? Besides, RS committed a complete injustice by focusing too much on his weed habit. Umm….I wanna read about the music, not about how high he gets. Plus, they have him looking like this arrogant idiot who often gets his feelings hurt when artists diss him. So what? Heard that one before. Maybe if they dug in deeper to the contributions of his music or maybe if they focused more to the method of his madness, I think readers would respond to it more.

Sebastian | 7/15/2006, 12:15 am EST

I am feeling alot of jelousy here. All of those saying he isn’t making music need to ask themselves what music is today… He isn’t a jerk. This article just portrays him as one. The weed smoking is over blow, way over blown. Material posessions… Show me one successful actor, musician, or political figure that doesn’t have diamonds, houses, helicopters, rolls royce phantoms and other things. You know you want that stuff too, so don’t act like you don’t. Material posessions are the after effect of success.

Scott Storch makes amazing music that lifts you up and makes you move. While our typical white trash Americans don’t feel this music. Many others feel it and love it!

Go STORCH!

the king | 7/16/2006, 7:10 am EST

hes damn right.
there is almost no producer, who produced more no 1 hits like him.

Cassie | 8/9/2006, 12:39 pm EST

I think that Storch is great. He is a hit maker and I think he does big things. He has made a few mistakes in his life like smoking weed and dropping outta Highschool in 9th grade but everyone makes mistakes and it just so happens that his mistakes helped him make it big and people shouldn’t be hating on him because thats not right.I am happy he is doing big things and help making Celebritys get to where they are

Storchmania. Scott Storch is sooooooooooooooooooo fine and HOTHOT!!! It is cool to know some of his history. You can look at him and tell he is a druggie. And he never weaRS a yamakka, so he must not be Jewish. I would love to be in his world.

scott storch has more musical talent than anyone in rap right now. sure he went pop for money and glamorizes drugs and bling, but what would you do? donate it all to charity?? hes had more number one hits than any producer in rap/r&b genre including dre. How does this not display talent??

DR | 9/30/2006, 5:55 pm EST

I don’t kno about that one buddy. Pharrell make alot of billboard toppers too..

Unknown | 9/30/2006, 5:57 pm EST

I think timbaland is a fuking monster. That guy has been in the game soooo long and still bangin’ out hits. Timbo is the G.O.A.T.

Darren | 10/16/2006, 8:54 am EST

I’m a producer trying to make it in the music business and I want my family to have everything they want.
I hate buying cheap brand presents for my family and wish I could buy brand names presents, if I could make a million pounds from my music then i would be very happy.
Would you guys hate me if I gave my family the things they have always dreamed about? Don’t hate someone because he made something of his life.
We all have a dream and sometimes they do come true and good luck with all your dreams!

LX KEEM | 10/16/2006, 1:50 pm EST

One day I’ll be a producer/beatmaker, like Scott,or better.

khairus | 10/22/2006, 4:32 am EST

he makes a lot of good music, most of the famouus singers are because of scott producing their album
you dont really need a big talent in music if u have a good producers

EmJay | 10/22/2006, 1:16 pm EST

I’m a producer trying to make it happen. Scott Storch is one of my two idols as producers, along with Pharrel. I love everything he does. While he may come off a little strong, he has his head on right and tells it exactly how it is. Thanks for keeping it real, Scott.

vinny | 10/30/2006, 2:38 am EST

yea sure the man can make some beats but will they be remembered? will he be on top 5 lists next to pete rock and premier? i dont think so… give it some time and hell be a flash in the pan. so sit back relax and let gwen teach you how to spell bananas.

thaimoney | 11/3/2006, 8:57 pm EST

yo toure, you work for BET,didn’t you say something over there about how he wasn’t nominated for producer of the year. talk about bias.

Anonymous | 11/6/2006, 2:56 am EST

I met scott a couple years ago in miami he was friends with my girl and he is a chill guy. we hung out at his house while he was doing a song with mario and he was mad cool. if you dont know him how can you judge? anyway if you had as much money and talent you would spend your money crazy too. and everything he does is fire!

Ti | 11/6/2006, 9:43 pm EST

He says something about how the real talented musicians never make any money, jazz musicians and such.

Give me that, these songs sound like shit. I don’t care if there isn’t any money in them, I’ll take talent anyday.

Loco-Ciano | 11/24/2006, 4:54 am EST

William M | 12/3/2006, 5:05 pm EST

Scott Storch is one of the most impressive producers in the industry. First and foremost, to the “average” listener, Storch came out of nowhere and took over the industry(more or less). He is heavily sought after because his beats are actually worth listening to; because of this, almost every artist on the hip-hop or pop seen has at least one of songs on their album. Dr. Dre receives most of his props and marketing from his usual customers(Eminem, G-Unit, Stat Quo, Busta Rhymes, Snoop Dogg etc etc); Kanye West always samples his songs and usually lends a verse so that the listener knows that its his song; Pharrell’s songs usually sound different and lately he has been adding verses to his songs; often his songs could draw a parallel to Storch’s songs. Storch, however, receives advertising from the artists that he does work for. 9 times out of 10, they usually say his name at some point within the song. This keeps him out of the light while not only receiving credit, but also keeping his prestige.

?? | 1/21/2007, 2:29 am EST

I think that everything he makes is backed by intellectual lyricism and clever wordplay.

logic | 2/9/2007, 5:36 pm EST

simple catchy club beats with bounce. thats is key to success (in terms of making money), notice how majority of his beat are for club tunes? he is a combination of dre and timb, he’s worked wit both of them

yoyo | 3/18/2007, 8:01 pm EST

He’s gotta be one of the strangest looking people in the music industry…he looks like a mix between a cabbage patch kid and ET.

Well he has put out some kickin hits but Timbo, JT and Nelly F ate him up with there song come on they got 3 people (Ferg, Prince and Scott) all in a record breaking kick A** hit atleast put out something of substance to compare with it

AJ | 4/30/2007, 12:12 am EST

Well he has made some really kickin beats. But as far as the beef with Timberland, Scott got his ass handed to him. Timberland got 3 people (Fergie, Scott and Prince) in one song and made the billboard with it. That try with Nox, well I think I could have done better. Sorry Timberland wins let it go.

Donny | 5/9/2007, 3:07 am EST

this dude is garbage. this isnt hip hop. this is pop. its girly music. educate yourself and listen to real hip hop. end.

Momo | 8/11/2007, 6:08 pm EST

I am reading this stuff and I don’t no whether to laugh or cry. What is going on in Hip Hop is what has happened to black music historically, except this time more people of African descent got a piece of the pie, mind you not the biggest piece. People need to educate themselves, open their eyes, read a book, do some research put on a Jazz album. There are WAYYY tooo many ignorant people. Money doesn’t make you smart.
