Jeff Buckley’s mom says movies like Ray and Walk the Line helped convince her it was time to allow someone to make a film based on her son’s life. The biopic will be written and directed by up-and-comer Brian Jun who impressed everyone with his film Steel City at Sundance.
- Isn’t the internet awesome? You can stream the new TV On the Radio record here and then afterwards the four of you who also like Muse can go check out their new album here.
- As you may know, in between drug binges and the corresponding arrests Pete Doherty sometimes makes music. His band Babyshambles have a few truly great songs and beginning on August 1st some will be available in the states on iTunes. Rough Trade is in charge of the digital release of the band’s first record Down In Albion which will include a slew of B-sides. Is it a coincidence that Carl Barat’s new band Dirty Pretty Things are releasing (actual physical copies of) their first album here around the same time?
- Foxy Brown is no longer deaf but we may wish we were. Hey! That’s just mean. Foxy, who experienced terrifying hearing loss that forced her into surgery, has made a full recovery and is back in the studio working on a new record.
- Michael Jackson’s “creative juices are flowing again,” claims his spokeswoman. While all references to Jackson-produced juices kind of grosses us out we’re into his apparent plans to move to Europe and restructure his finances (once again). We miss having his antics regularly documented.
- The Black Keys will head out on tour this fall in support of their fourth record Magic Potion out September 12th. Is it weird that the Black Keys are already on their fourth record? These bluesy duos grow up so fast.
- Ah Tori Amos. You smack of bad drug experiences, ill-advised fairy-influenced garb, and the smell of patchouli but for some you are a goddess and we respect that. No, we’re probably not going to buy your forthcoming box set filled with B-sides and previously unreleased material, but we relish the fact that others can, and will.
