Springsteen Takes Over Conan; Actor Offers “Gonad-Shaker” Accompaniment

6/26/06, 12:25 pm EST

Bruce Springsteen recruited everyone he could find to play with him on the Conan O’Brien show Friday. In addition to his Seeger Sessions band, the Boss’s performance of “Pay Me My Money Down” featured O’Brien on guitar, Max Weinberg on drums, Jimmy Fallon on spoons (he picked last), and actor Thomas Haden Church (from Wings and that wine movie with all the dirty sex, Sideways) playing what he called “gonad shakers.” Check out the clip on YouTube.

Everyman has a right to believe what he wants to politically. If an entertainer wishes to make his beliefs part of his show, and share them with his audience, then he has that right as well. But lets not hear any whining when for some strange reason sales of tickets to shows, and numbers of recorded product sales start to fall. (ala Dixie Chicks) Although I don’t think Bruce Springsteen will have to worry about that possibility, as I’m sure (hopefully for him) that he already has enough money. I just wish entertainers would stick to entertaining, instead of preaching. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!
