Rolling Stone Associate Editor Austin Scaggs recently spoke with Justin Timberlake about his second solo album, FutureSex/LoveSounds, which comes out in September. Timberlake, who worked with Rick Rubin, Timbaland and Will.I.Am on the album calls this new project “progressive” and explains that he wanted to “take more chances” with his follow up to Justified. Justin also got philosophical about his uncanny transition from boy band member to serious artist. “I think the first record crept up on everybody because nobody really expected it, including myself. And with this record it felt like I had a little more of a platform.” For more details about FutureSex/LoveSounds and information about the first single “SexyBack” pick up a copy of the new Rolling Stone, on stands Friday, June 30th. No word yet on why Justin has stopped feeling love for spaces between words.

With the help of Rick Rubin, Timbaland and Will.i.am, my dog could make a good record. Justin’s got the money to buy real talent to fill in the gaps.
