Goodbye Horses, unforgettable song used in a powerful scene in “The Silence of the Lambs”. It’s a great gay song also for the texture and the intention of it’s music chords.

uncledick | 6/27/2006, 5:49 pm EST

This is from somebody who is actually GAY and who loves all kinds of music. The runner up: “Sex Over the Phone,” by the Village People. But the best song that puts the SEX back in homosex is: “You’re One,” by Imperial Teen. woof!

Steverino | 6/27/2006, 6:43 pm EST

Britney Spears’ “Toxic” has to be one of the gayest songs ever. Seriously, if that song comes on in a public place, all the gay boys start twitching a little bit. It’s like that scene at the bank in The Full Monty.

Also, I know someone who basically outted himself to me when his phone rang, and I heard his “Toxic” ringtone.

Brian | 6/27/2006, 7:39 pm EST

“Arms Wide Open” by Creed

wickedbitch | 6/27/2006, 7:44 pm EST

gotta be Pansy Division’s “Cocksucker Club.”

Raspberry Gun Pancake Frou | 6/27/2006, 11:11 pm EST

“Homosapien” by Pete Shelley

fluidikons | 6/28/2006, 1:56 am EST

What? No “Shiny Happy People” by R.E.M. – and kudos to wickedbitch for the pansy division ref.

wowie zowie | 6/28/2006, 5:10 am EST

REAL MEN,
Joe Jackson

jonathan | 6/28/2006, 5:27 am EST

What exactly is a “gay song”? Does the song have a sexuality? I mean, doees it like another song of the same sex? Gee, I must be missing something here.

I always thought that “gay” meant loving someone of the same sex, not what you like to listen to.

johnnycabolli | 6/28/2006, 7:49 am EST

haha…definitley ‘i’ll tumble for you’ by the culture club…and if the song isnt gay enough, the video clip certainly is…

NEWT321 | 6/28/2006, 9:23 am EST

God, I hope your joking about Velvet Underground!!

danny | 6/28/2006, 9:47 am EST

rough boys by Pete Townsend

pj | 6/28/2006, 10:17 am EST

“Crazy, Crazy Nights” by Kiss. When Paul Stanley lisps “…and nobody’s gonna change me, cuz that’s who I am, Whooo!” it had to be the gayest moment in hair metal history (and that’s really saying something).

John | 6/28/2006, 11:24 am EST

The gayest has to be “Father of a Son” by The Ark…

One day I will become the father of a son
Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah!

Well, I’ve had my share
Of remarks about my rear
But I know it’s all about fear
And that you’d probably love it if you’d only dare

And I know a thousand girls who’d go wild
If I’d ask them to bear my child
So I don’t see why you’d even care to prevent me
cause I can swear,

That one day I will become The father of a Son
Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah!
One day I will become the father of a Son
Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah!

And you’re totally fogged in your head
If you were serious right now when you said
That it’s because they will be bullied in school
cause that means you let the bullies set the rules

And you can legislate and oppress and you can make my life a mess
But you can’t change the way I feel Or convince me that my wish is unreal
And you can strike me down and fence me And you can claim that there’s opinion against me

But I’ll still win over You, Sir
cause if you fight Love, you’re always a looser

And one day I will become The Father of a Son
Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah!
One day I will become The Father of a Son
Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah!

And I may be gay But I can tell you straight away
That I’ll become a better father than all of you anyway (So listen!)

One day I will become the Father of a Son
Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah!

krunch | 6/28/2006, 11:43 am EST

Gay in CO | 7/13/2006, 3:57 pm EST

“Im coming out” diana ross
“it’s raining men” weather girls
“We Are Family”
“Gay Bar” from Electric Six
Anything from Village People

Chuck D | 7/14/2006, 1:44 pm EST

Les Boys – Dire Straits (Making Movies)

Alec | 7/14/2006, 2:47 pm EST

“Michael” for sure. I’m glad the Scissor Sisters made the cut as well. How about “Gay Bar” by the Electric Six? I’d say that if “Gay” is in the title, it could merit a spot on this list.

fr8trayn | 7/15/2006, 10:09 am EST

LOU REED- “Walk on the Wildside
TOM ROBINSON BAND- “Glad to be Gay”
ROLLING STONES- “Cocksucker Blues”

Limp Bizkit’s “Nookie” is definitely the gayest song EVER. If Fred Durst had ever actually had sex with a woman he would realize they do not posses a “yeah” to stick it up–woman have an actual anatomy none of which holds cookies.

yellow matted custard | 7/19/2006, 2:29 pm EST

Frankie goes to Hollywood – Relax!!

Beatles – Obla-di-Obla-Da

T Bear.. Jacksonville, FL | 7/19/2006, 10:48 pm EST

Cudo’s to the Homosexual and Lesbian community for “Hi-Jacking a perfectly great word like “Gay.” I’m not homophobic by any stretch. I have a homosexual brother-in-law. He’s a very cool guy. I have no problem with same sex civil union so that they can have the same legal benifits of a married couple. But, geez, no longer can any hetero’s be “young and gay.” (as in happy) Guess we have to change the words of that old Christmas carol (anybody here remember Christmas?) I guess we can no longe “don our gay apparell” fa la la!!!!! Bummer! Oh yeah, and can you even get a copy of the movie “The Gay Divorcee” anymore? NO, its not about a homo or lesban couple braking up. Too bad, the world is coming to an end, and thats the real bummer

Evan | 7/20/2006, 10:17 pm EST

“The Angry American” by Toby Keith.

But seriously, my vote goes to “Smells Like Queer Spirit” by Pansy Division, a takeoff on “Smells Like Teen Spirit” with lyrics “Jesse Helms, put in jail.” It filled me with gay pride… and I’m not even gay.

JSuzart | 7/23/2006, 11:50 am EST

saying Franz ferdinand’s Michael is a gay song, it’s like saying FF’s Do You want to… wait a second… this band is suspiciously gay!!!!

There are other songs really really gay:
- Pet shop boys: Rent
- The Smiths: Some girls are bigger than others
- The Ark: It takes a fool to remain sane
That’s a secret hymn, hear it
- Dead or alive: You Spin Me Round
- Of course, Frankie goes to Hollywood: Relax
- Evelyn Thomas: High Energy
- Everything from Erasure
- Bronski beat: Smalltown Boy
- Elton John: Don’t go breaking my heart
- David Bowie & Mick jagger: Dancing in the streets
Awful and gay
- Queen: Break free or something like that

JNoles | 7/24/2006, 11:34 am EST

Well, there’s..

“I kissed a girl” by Jill Sobule.. whatever happened to her?

But definitely, “In the Navy” by Village People… actually, I take that back… ANYTHING by Village People.
