You guys are giving me a nose bleed.

vibe | 6/23/2006, 9:19 pm EST

Who is Pete Doherty?

Michele | 6/23/2006, 11:52 pm EST

Its one of the saddest jokes ever…27 is a magical death age…will he join Jimi, Janis, Jim and Kurt? Stay tuned…

Sylvie | 6/24/2006, 4:14 am EST

Pete Doherty is so addicted and yet we are sitting here waiting for him to die before he actually wakes up to what he is doing to himself, his family and his fans. Lets hope sanity saves him before death reaches him.

Andrew | 6/24/2006, 1:19 pm EST

go pete go!

Ben | 6/24/2006, 6:44 pm EST

I agree, act like professionals. This ‘countdown’ idea smacks of high school fun and games. But then again, I guess that is who Rolling Stone is marketing to these days…and have been for some time. Pathetic. Give us a real interview or story and leave the cheeky immature acts for Teen Steam or whatever.

Lil' Snik | 6/24/2006, 7:37 pm EST

Can’t wait to read his journals –
Friday:
“Shot up. Passed out.”
Saturday:
“Shot up. Threw up. Passed out.”
Sunday:
“Got arrested. Shot up. Passed out.”

polly_apprentice | 6/24/2006, 8:21 pm EST

F**k you Rolling Stone

Leslie | 6/24/2006, 10:00 pm EST

I’m sick of seeing things like this involving Pete…he’s got a problem and people shouldn’t mock it. This little “countdown” pisses me off and Rolling Stone should be ashamed of themselves. In an older issue of RS (the one with the actually great article about Pete) there was a blurb in the front pages about Madonna after her horse accident saying something about “Getting back on the horse faster then Pete Doherty, Madonna blah blah blah…” and I thought it was a totally uncalled for dig at Pete. I was disgusted. I wish everyone could just leave the poor man alone.

birdman | 6/25/2006, 11:43 am EST

this is classic, but its its almost comical that pete doherty is famous solely for doing H

I….I’m so happy. Now I know what my idol is doing at all times.

Ease up | 6/25/2006, 11:37 pm EST

Give me a break! Everyone who’s ever known Doherty has tried to reach out and help him…the Doherty watch clock is phenomenal; the dude is beyond ridiculous and thus deserves to be ridiculed.

Babycakes | 6/26/2006, 2:00 am EST

I agree with with Ease Up. This is hysterically funny. Where’s your sense of humor Rollingstone.com readers?

Christian | 6/26/2006, 8:11 am EST

it is hardly the most original idea rolling stone has ever came up with, isn’t it?

hanna | 6/26/2006, 8:25 am EST

Nice. Talk about kicking someone who’s already in the gutter.

I agree with BOS…WITM8.

You are mocking a man with a problem. Sad.

Tony | 6/26/2006, 9:48 am EST

You’d think in a MUSIC magazine, especially one that has reported on numerous rock stars with a variety of addictions, could get past tell everything that Pete Doherty does drugs and focus on his music. Everything Pete has produced since Up the Bracket has has been the best rock music in years. Rollingstone should talk about how Pete and Jack White have saved rock from crap like Yellowcard; not what so and so puts up their nose.

Freddy | 6/26/2006, 1:21 pm EST

Rolling Stone is just a trend bitch and just like all the other trend bitches (NME, MTV, Billboard, etc) all they can do is echo the prevailing opinion of the uneducated mass instead of showcasing new and interesting things.

Penny Lane | 6/26/2006, 1:31 pm EST

‘Cuse me Benjamin hellbot, Pete Doherty’s your hero?Alright, he seems to be quite intelligent(4 A-levels)and write good songs(Songs!, the music suchs on the record). But nothing else is adorable ’bout him.he Adorable-through him you could get to know carl Barat ergo good music.
Anyway this is perverse.
Pete Doherty has serious issues.Don’t mock
“Have we enough to keep it together/Or do we just keep on pretending/Hope our luck is never ending,no”

Sam | 6/26/2006, 1:39 pm EST

What a f**king disgrace, try making a timer to the next album that will be better than Up The Bracket

entroduce | 6/26/2006, 2:00 pm EST

doherty is not solely famous for doing H you fukkin retards.
go out and buy ‘up the bracket’ then download the vast amount of beautiful songs he’s posted on the internet.
small minded pricks.

Monkey | 6/26/2006, 2:00 pm EST

Completely tasteless . . . i love it!

daniel sullivan | 6/26/2006, 2:24 pm EST

i have been reaing rolling stone since jimi, janis et al…..before it really got sold out to the corperations….anyway many of your readers will remember kurt cobain…

hope you have a big laugh on this…..after all this time i dont find it funny anymoe when these folks start killing themselves

pete seems like he’s got some great music to share……so glad to see the joy you take in his killing himself……..

Kari | 6/26/2006, 2:34 pm EST

Funny, yet sad. Pete will clean up when he’s ready.Remember, Lou Reed, Debbie Harry, Eric Clapton, etc. all had drug addictions for years and they are still going strong. I’m pulling for you Pete!

chuck | 6/26/2006, 5:13 pm EST

Pete’s a joke. The guy is far from a genius and just wants to die so he might get put in the same light as REAL musical heros that have left us.Cant wait till he’s gone so we can forget the wasted prick.I guess losers need an idol too

Ryan | 6/26/2006, 6:14 pm EST

For such a bleeding heart magazine, you seem to show little compassion for a person who has given so much to music but who is in need of major care.

Anybody remember when Hunter S. Thompson wrote for Rolling Stone ? If so, then you’ll understand humor in this counter.

pedro alves | 6/27/2006, 4:59 am EST

the libertines and babyshambles… ring a bell for u american people….

oh no pete! | 6/27/2006, 5:13 am EST

i understand both sides of this argument and am disgusted that people would count down the days to his death with glee. But i also understand that however talented pete may be, he is f**ked up person and apart from the terrible drugs problem he’s a dick. i hope he makes 28 but i cant imagine him changing

Zed | 6/27/2006, 7:29 am EST

Gold.

Alexander Tomlinson | 6/27/2006, 8:14 am EST

This is very exploitive of this man’s problems. Very offensive.

ryan | 6/27/2006, 1:43 pm EST

This is very cruel and unfair to him. He’s SICK! He’s got a bona-fide illness that is worse than most can imagine. I think it is horrible to mock him like this and I think this is so typical of Rolling Stone.

laughter. | 6/27/2006, 2:33 pm EST

hahahaha ha hahaha. ha.

Carl | 6/27/2006, 3:24 pm EST

i forgot the link!

Z crunchnstuff | 6/28/2006, 2:48 am EST

I also wish i could put this on my myspace.com page. It’s the man’s own fault, addiction can be overcome. However it seems he is not willing to try. Way to go RS!!!

me | 6/28/2006, 2:51 am EST

You didn’t do this to Kurt Cobain back when he messed up constantly…if Pete dies, will you make fun of that too?

krunch | 6/28/2006, 11:41 am EST

anywhere in albion

Ranting Eva | 6/28/2006, 1:46 pm EST

People close to Pete have continually tried to help him yet he seems to never truly commit himself to rehab. It is shame that he has become more famous for his narcotic antics than for his music. Like many have said, Pete wil come clean when he wants, but what a waste of talent.

Jordan | 6/28/2006, 2:04 pm EST

I don’t care how many drugs this guy is on, he rocks.

Libertines didn’t get half the recognition they deserved over here in the West and Babyshambles is better in my opinion.

I think Pete is a musical genious with a voice to boot.

Pete has made more money and accomplished more high on drugs then most people do sober.

FU

evan | 6/28/2006, 4:26 pm EST

People saying “well hes not trying hard enough to clean up!”- you’ve obviously never seen what heroin addiction does to people. The RS is obviously tasteless- if Doherty was 1/2 as popular as Kurt Cobain over here they’d never dare mock him or his problems because theyd be too scared of pissing off fans.

Holden | 6/28/2006, 5:22 pm EST

Hey, listen, even if Doherty was as popular as Cobain, he could never, EVER, match Nirvana’s impact.

Yes, Pete is a terrific musician, but this is about the drugs, not the music.

Ronny S. Norway | 6/29/2006, 7:39 am EST

This is despicable. You should be ashamed. Rolling Stone was once a highly regarded magazine worldwide. Is THIS the new level of “journalism” you´ve stooped to ?

Nolan Martin | 6/29/2006, 9:37 am EST

Alright, from all the stuff I’ve read about Pete Doherty, he sounds more like a guy who is more interested in getting super stoned rather then making great music. Allow me to be morbid, i forsee him having the same fate as Jimi Hendrix, Joplin and Jim Morrison and Kurt Cobain who all died at a very very young age. (Oh, Pete, you don’t have half the talent of these people on the list. If you’re gonna act like a pretentious snob in the entertainment business, actually get some talent.)

Pete | 6/29/2006, 2:51 pm EST

Sod off. I’m gon go stick needows in my baws.

marc | 6/30/2006, 12:51 pm EST

The crazy thing for rolling stone is that Pete has been the front man for the libertines and now babyshambles for years. Rolling stone is so out of the loop as far as real music goes that they never covered his great bands or probabaly never even heard the music. Rolling stone is like people magazine as far as real music goes. They review the likes of bo bice and jessica simpson, but progressive talent like Pete and the libertines/babyshambles is only news for them if it involves tabliod type junk. Rolling Stone, spend less time acting like the national enquirier and actually cover some real music. Your act like you only care about music sold at Wallmart.

Ajay | 6/30/2006, 3:46 pm EST

Everone lighten up.

It’s just plain funny.

Toasty | 6/30/2006, 4:07 pm EST

Michele “Its one of the saddest jokes ever…27 is a magical death age…will he join Jimi, Janis, Jim and Kurt? Stay tuned…”

I say don’t forget Sid on that list

Pete will be next – it’s fate

MATT | 6/30/2006, 11:34 pm EST

Gee pete don’t be daft

punk | 7/2/2006, 6:35 pm EST

actually RS had a pretty long interview about 2 months ago on Pete…They would focus on his music if his antics didnt always trump them…Maybe you should look into the interview where he squirted his blood on the camera…

punk | 7/2/2006, 6:36 pm EST

I hope he dies so the british press can call him the greatest rocker of all time…all of england is a whore for their own star…

Pete's Mum | 7/3/2006, 4:27 am EST

why doesn’t everyone except that Pete im a tw*t Doherty is a complete waste of space and he is’nt even talented. Give it a try and you’ll understand what im talking about! Oh great he gets wasted on drugs, thats nothing to be proud of, we all do it!

a fan | 7/3/2006, 6:01 pm EST

wow people are pretty passionate about this. the guy may be ill but its because he is too immature to believe that his own reality is not right and this is partially because he is surrounded by enablers (including the public) who have made him into this ‘artistic junkie’.

h. chinaski | 7/3/2006, 6:50 pm EST

i say let him die in peace because his music isnt so great anyway

Nix | 7/4/2006, 9:50 pm EST

To all you people blabbing on about RS hitting a new low – since when has RS been just about the music? Never! It’s always been about musicians, their music and their lives. Drugs are part of Pete’s music – they shape it and influence it. RS are only providing social commentary. Pete can put a stop to it at any time by taking some of the help offered to him. Boo hoo for the Rock Star who can afford the best rehad treatment money can buy. Good on you RS!!!!

joe shambrook | 9/13/2006, 8:00 am EST

Anyone who takes H deserves to be in the slammer…period.
Shame on anyone for pitying this little turd.

rach | 12/9/2008, 3:41 pm EST

sorry but you judge pete doherty for doing drugs when the true fact is about 1/4 of the uk have done or still do.

talk about them.
its just because hes more known, so what.

he makes good music and is still human.

grow up ranting.

rach | 12/9/2008, 3:55 pm EST

firstly, how can you judge pete doherty when its fact that 1/4 of the uk have done or still do drugs!

you only comment on him because he is known and you make it sound like hes the only one when half the celebreties especially in bands nowadays do drugs!
what about everyone else.

he makes good music
hes human too
and if you actually KNEW him then maybe your opinion may change because for all we know he could be the nicest guy ever.

end of.
grow up.
