I have a question for all those who praise this film: Where does the US get most of its oil? The Answer: Canada. Even more stricking is that while number 2 is Saudi Arabia, Mexico and Venezueal are 2 and 3. The Middle East has a lot of oil but this movie eploits this point. This is a purely conspiracy movie. While corruption does exist and this movie has some valid points, the movie is really just a polemic by George Clooney. The movie was boring, slow, and had a horrible script. Gaghan was trying to duplicate his "Traffic" and failed miserably. One final note, do you realize that every American in this movie is evil? The one saint is the poor suicide bomber who lost his job.
DO NOT SEE THIS MOVIE!

Outstanding movie. Highly recommended. This is no conspiracy movie- all of this stuff happens. Don't think so? Look into what happened to Iran's democratically elected leader Mohamed Mossadegh in the early '50s, among others- or just read former CIA agent Bob Baer's book, on which the film is based. Well-made film, excellent acting, complex, you have to pay attention, it helps if you know about the Middle East. People who hate this film will tend to be Fox-watchers who should really turn off the TV, get a passport, read some history books, and then get out and see the world.

I WANT THAT 4 HOURS OF MY LIFE BACK!!!!!
What?....it was only 2 hours? That was the longest two hours of my life!!!
The movie trailer made this film look like it was going to be thrilling...the most thrilling part of the movie was when George Clooney (I can't even remember the character's name, that's how memorable this movie is) drove his four runner across the desert to stop the caravan. The trailer made this movie look intense....hell, church is more intense than this movie.
Ok, I don't mind a movie that's not thrilling or intense, but don't advertise it as such! And if it's not intense or thrilling, at least make it interesting. At least develop some characters...make me feel something!
This movie was boring, and very tough to follow. It kept jumping here and there and everywhere. I was waiting for something interesting to happen and.....I kept waiting. I didn't care about any of the characters, didn't feel any emotions, (except for boredome and anticipation).
I would have rather watched Pride and Prejudice than this movie.

They are all participants in today's world politics and problems. At the end of movie you ask one question: Who is the most innocent?

Excellent movie! It reveals the true complexities of the world we live in, and especially how soldiers of both materialism and fundamentalism are fighting idealism to death. More movies like this are a necessity in a society which constantly looses its grip on the exact values which contributed to its genesis .

The movie is complex and requires your attention, which isn't difficult to give, because it's fast moving and interesting enough to keep you glued to the screen. There are lots of story threads and characters to keep track of. The Arab world, the Middle East, is fascinating and complex and you realize how much you do not know about it as you watch this film. George Clooney is wonderful. He creates a character so real that he could play him in many movies like Harrison Ford has the Indiana Jones guy. Except he won't, because he dies in the end. It's a great story Americans should see and give serious thought to how our reliance on oil creates so much havoc in the world. You really see the dirty rotten politics of it all. Does it have to be that way? I hope people start asking questions about that.

After watching "Good Night and Good Luck and Syriana, it gave me a feeling that American cinema is back again on track after years of block buster low IQ flixs directed to keeping the masses in a constant escapist mode.
"Syriana" is provcative and daring by the simple fact of letting us into the inner workings of The Powers That Be.
