This album wasn't what I had been expecting. Having becoming something of a hardcore fan during the Meteroa era, to hear Linkin Park songs with a new, somewhat softer and muted sound was unsettling. However, the more I listen to it, the more it truly grows on me, and the more childish and unrefined their old music begins to sound. I believe this album shows their talents really growing in a new, more mature direction, and hope it continues.
However, it's going to be a long time before Shadow of the Day and In Between get into my top tracks list...

I admit to not liking every track on the record, but it's a good
record. For those who want an artist, or group, to keep
releasing the same record over an over, it will disappoint. I
happen to like when artists experiment and take chances. Dig
deeper, there is more to this release. Listen to the new sounds
and ideas. If you want frat boy music, go listen to Van Halen.

It is not incredible
The beauty is the fact that Linkin Park has proven they aren't a one-trick pony
If they want to do pop, they do it
If they want to be political, they do it
If they want a new twist on their rapmetal, they bloody do it

Magnificent. Not like the other albums but I love this album more every time I listen to it. Great deep lyrics, catchy hooks and a powerful sound. LP may have the best metal album of the year.

I'm sick of all this anti-LP propaganda. People are either saying "LP sucks totally" or "M2M sucks compared to Meteora".
What I see is a band that's wanting to change, not stick with the same old style for ages. And they've done it perfectly with M2M. Their sound is much clearer and they're giving the lyrics much more depth. I liked their old style but I love this one. If this is only the start of LP's new era, then I can't wait to hear them when they're prime.
In the end, this is just my opinion, and for all those "LP sucks" spammers - grow up. Music is all about taste, if you don't like it, don't listen to it, period. Why bother posting hate driven posts if you don't care about LP? I think everyone should be allowed to listen to what they like without anyone telling them "your music taste sucks".

Disappointing to say the least. Are these guys supposed to rock or shower me with love balads (with the exception of two songs). My expectation was for this to be different then thier last record, however, this is just plane silly! I am upset that Rick Ruben would let a record like this from a band with this type of reputation go out. How are these guys going to share the same stange ith the othe rperformers of the Revolution tour? Sounds to me like they should be on tour with Yanni. Grow some nuts and put out a rock album instead of this "LoveFM" type of crap... I want my money back!

The reviewer seems more interested in whether Linkin Park's political views match those of Rolling Stone than the quality of the music.
When you look back on this review 10 years from now and realize how bad this album really is, you'll feel ashamed that you based your review on your agreement with Chester's politics rather than the fact that LP's music continues to lower the bar for faux nu metal. How much lower can it go?
And how much lower into the polarizing political abyss can Rolling Stone go?
