What a stupid review from Rolling Stond about this masterpiece. Masterpiece? Yes!

The first album I listened from The Decemberists was Picaresque. The whole package was and still is beautiful with gems like We Both Go Down Together and The Mariner's Revenge Song. After that I started listening to Castaways & Cutouts which was another great package including even more gems! Grace Cathedral Hill, The Legionnaire's Lament... Just wow!

At this point in time it was time to see The Decemberists live in Paradiso, Amsterdam. Conclusion: One of the best performances I ever saw! (shares a personal top 4 with Mars Volta, RHCP and Sufjan)

Then I took another step back in time and started to check out Her Majesty and thought: "Another beauty... but most of the time after a few great albums it can happen that bands start losing their inspiration and sound... Please, Decemberists, show me that you're not out of stories (to sing)!"

And now it was time for The Crane Wife... I had very high hopes, but did it also live up to my expectations? Hell yeah! Even better than that! The Crane Wife is in my opinion the best album The Decemberists made to date!

The beautiful stories continue on this album. It has more atmosphere than the previous album. This album does have a lot of highlights. The second track, "The Island..." is a very long track which consists of different parts. It is packed very beautiful and adds even more atmosphere to the stories in the songs.

A song like Summersong makes me very happy, while Perfect Crime #2 won't let me sit still. When The War Came has a more stomping rock verse and flows into a perfect chorus. The rest of the songs, from the beginning to the end of the album, are all (yes, I have to use this word another time!) instantly gems!

I can't wait to listen to the album again... Too bad I still have to wait another 3 hours before I can go home (while writing this review).

If you're a fan of music, stories and a great atmosphere... you'll gonna love this!

This is not a review. Unless you're going to call Robert Christgau's verbal rambling on nothing in particular a review. What a shocker. He ought to be back making the tea for that one. I like the Decemberists, so if anyone has anything worthwhile to say about the album I'd be interested to read it.

Reading this alleged review was a serious waste of my time. Is there a word limit on your reviews these days? Or would you prefer to wax eloquent on the Black Eyed Peas' latest shitfest? Next time just link us poor readers to a better thought out review on some other site.
