Peevish...
If I had to describe this album in one word, it would be peevish. cheeky is too playful. peevish. attitude. showing annoyance, irritation, or bad mood.
Thats the vibe I got from listening to this CD. Understandably so as B. just finished filming a role that required her to stifle her confidence and be meek and powerless. Completely polar opposide from the powerful woman she is. And it is quite evident that she needed some creative release of that pent up energy from the opening strains of the cd to the final note. Proving to everyone as well as herself that she is still the confident independent woman we all 'know'. That she didnt lose herself in the filming of this incredible role, but rather found more of herself that she didnt know.
Is it her best work? Meh...but it is definetly worth a listen. Just not on the way to work or your boss may accuse you of having an attitude all day...
*key tracks - DejaVu, Ring The Alarm, Upgrade You..

Guys please. Everybody is entitled to like or dislike an album. I personally think the album is OK. However, just because a person doesn't like Beyonce or her album does not make them a hater. Grow up. Die hard Beyonce fans: get off her tits and allow others to dislike or hate her! Sheesh!

Very disappointing. No variety. No chance o showcase Beyonce's very real talent. I so wanted to like this album but I don't. Kelly Rowland's "Simply Deep" is just so much better.Beyonce is the real deal no doubt but you'd never know it from this album.

B' Day is the most surprising cd this year because I didn't think it was going to be even worth hearing. But Beyonce proved me wrong, this cd is really good, despite the fact that there are only 10 songs, to me it feels like the album is short but sweet and to the point.

By dropping her second solo project Beyonce just prooved one more time that she's got the skills the talent the voice and the crew to make good and catchy music.
Very different from "Dangerously in Love", "B'Day" is very upbeat album. Most of the songs and catchy and can make you bounce easily. If some of the endless ballads on "Dangerously in Dick" made you feel bored listeninig to the CD that wouldn't happen here. Tracks like "Deja Vu", "Ring The Alarm", "Suga Mama", "Upgrade U" nad "Get Me Bodied" are the perfect examples.
There is another really fast song called "Freakum Dress" which I consider really annoying and it can irritate you for just 30 seconds (by the way that song reminded me of the song "Take That Ring" from the Toni Braxton's album "Libra". "Take That Ring" is as annoying as "Freakum Dress"). Another song that I don't really like very much is "Kitty Kat". It is OK but The Neptunes are overrated as producers and songwriters anyway so I am not surprise that this track is just mediocre.
"Green Light" is also an OK song, still better than "Kitty Kat".
"Irreplacable" is song number 9 and it is very smooth and easy going - I will give it five stars.
The last song on the album is "Resentment" - very good song but it feels kind of out of place on this album because doesn't blend at all with the rest of the tracks. Iprooves that Miss Z has a very good voice range but we all know that already.
My overall impression - I am happy with this album. It is good even made for just two weeks. I am trying to imagine what kind of masterpiece the album would be if it wes recorded in two months for example...

Personally, i think B'Day is garbage. I think it is just a regular cd from someone who has been making music for a while now. She can give you something to dance to, and thats cool. But who cant? Nothing about this album is special. I think it would have been better if she wouldnt have rushed it, just to try to run Letoya out the game.Toya still doin it big.
Her album songs sound all the same. I only tolerated kitty kat, and ring the alarm. I'll be real, even though i cant stand this woman most of the time, she can sing like h***. Ill be fair. But it doesnt matter if you can sing when what you sing has the most retarded messages. "Rock diamond's on my neck got diamonds on my records" BEYONCE U COPYCAT. Stop tryin to show everybody up. Let kelly release her album. Stop being unfair to Letoya, we both know this is 'Toya's first solo and you have had 2 now, stop trying to run the game.
Kelis is the boss. Stop using Jay-z as your street cred. Grow the feezy up and make a song that means something. Take a lesson from my girl Kelis, with her song "trilogy" Go to the moon and back, then try to holla at us. Stop releasing what you "think" is hot, and release what you feel in your soul is "hot" Tell jay-z u dont need him for your songs. Kelis definately didnt need Nas, but she included him because he is her husband, and who better for "blindfold" You can tell that dude love some Kelis. Stop shakin your ass, i mean thighs, in front of Jay-z b/c it seems he obviously isn't too shaken up by it.Your career needs to die. No longer are you the baddest bitch in the game.
The only reason your album B'day did so good the first few weeks was because your last album was straight. But "different" is in,and many people think it is cool so that's what you need to do. All of your songs are all about your money and materialistic pursuit, and your body, like every woman doesnt have one. Do you see how kelis varys in her styles rather than doing just whats in, and she's not talking about physical things; she sings from her soul and the rawness of it touches people. Your album isnt doing good b/c we all know it's all about fame in your case. We dont trust you. Your fake. Your undermine your own talent by showing us that all you can do is shake your ass on some guy who isnt even looking at you and isnt your husband. Re-think your image. You will never be the baddest again. Kelis did it. It's time for you to step up. Constructive criticism.
