Chicago
Starring: Catherine Zeta-Jones, Renee Zellweger, Richard Gere, John C. Reilly, Queen Latifah
Directed by: Rob Marshall
2002 Crime
This musical, the first to win the Best Picture Oscar since 1968, comes through in all its dirty, nasty, sexy glory on DVD. Zellweger and Zeta-Jones are knockouts as murdering vamps. And Richard Gere, as their shyster lawyer, has never been better. The disc restores the showstopper "Class," sung by Zeta-Jones and Queen Latifah as a prison matron. Director Rob Marshall says he cut the song to speed the story along. It's the only wrong move he made on this film. With "Class" back in the mix, Chicago finally seems complete. .
