There's no arguing that Cuba Gooding Jr. is trying to do right by the mentally disabled James Robert Kennedy, nicknamed Radio, who's been helping out the high school football teams in Anderson, South Carolina, since the turbulent 1970s. Gary Smith wrote about Radio in Sports Illustrated. Now Hollywood is up with Mike Rich (The Rookie) doing the script and Ed Harris as a composite coach trying to keep the tear-jerking below flood level. They fail.
