In this corner, Mike Myers, the sharp comic mind behind Austin Powers and countless SNL skits. Handicap: His edge has been blunted from lack of use over five years, except for voicing an ogre in the Shrek trilogy. Here, as guru Pitka, an American-born rival to Deepak Chopra in love therapy, he repeats lame jokes in a singsong accent until you want to scream. His formal greeting is "Mariska Hargitay." His mentor is guru Tugginmypudha (Sir Ben Kingsley). He helps Jessica Alba, the unlikely owner of the Toronto Maple Leafs, deal with libidinous goalie Jacques "Le Coq" grande (Justin Timberlake). Ninety minutes pass like an eternity. Verdict: Down for the count.

I Dont Think Its As Bad As All The Reviews Say But Needless To Say It Is Certainly Not The Best Of Mike Myers It Is No Where Near Close To The Austin Powers Movies Or Waynes World 1 and 2. But The Love Guru Is Not As Bad As The Cat in The Hat Which Was A Total Flop. But Mike Myers Can Do Better.

I waited to see this movie since the first trailers were being shown. After the movie opened, all I read was negative reviews, that is when I began having second thought about waiting for it to come on DVD. My husband dragged me in, so I did my best to really like it. After first 15 minutes which were overplayed during advertisement blitz, I lightened up, and pretended I had really low IQ. I enjoyed it. I laughed at jokes that were really dumb. Watching this movie was a lot like watching mainstream Bollywood moview, complete with songs, dances, and dumb jokes.

I was really looking forward to watching this movie and really enjoyed it.Being an Indian person who was born Hindu I was NOT offended by any of the jokes or the movie itself and was rather surprised that some Indians took offence to the movie.I`m guessing they judged the movie before they saw it.All I've got to say is..."If you don`t want to be laughed at,laugh together".Anyway nobody was laughing AT anyone. The movie was funny and enjoyable although my mom didn`t get a lot of the jokes cos it was with double meaning. Both of us are going to watch it the second time!!!Gee You Are You...G U R U .....Funny!!!I could totally relate to it.To the offended Indians out there.Notice that Americans poke fun at EVERYBODY including THEMSELVES.Laughter IS the best medicine. Please look at the funny side of life .
