Exquisitely artful. Boldly ambitious. No, Refuge of the Roads isn't a new Slipknot DVD but the welcome re-release of Joni Mitchell's elegant, romantic concert documentary from her 1983 tour in support of Wild Things Run Fast. Like that fine album, the film -- directed by Mitchell herself -- captures the icon on the road and in upbeat form. Yes, there really was a time when serious artists weaved Luis Bu?uel clips and Charles Mingus footage into their concert keepsakes.
