50 Cent's mythology is well-known by this point, so it's unfortunate that this DVD offers so few details of the thug-phenom's life Before Shady. The New Breed toasts 50 the celeb -- performing at a sold-out Detroit theater, taking radio-station calls from female fans in heat, playing jokes on hotel staff only famous people get away with.

Keeping fame in check, though, are the sobering reminders of what can go wrong: a behind-bars interview with G-Unit artist Tony Yayo and a haunting cameo from an exuberant Jam Master Jay.
