Ratatouille
Starring: Patton Oswalt, Brian Dennehy, Brad Garrett, Janeane Garofalo, Ian Holm
Directed by: Brad Bird
2007 Disney/Pixar Comedy
Steve Buscemi is everywhere this summer. He’s great in Delirious, a sharp satire from writer-director Tom DiCillo (Living in Oblivion) that takes a tired subject (the fame game) and makes it fiercely funny and touching. Buscemi plays Les Galantine, a Manhattan paparazzi scrounging to grab a shot of pop tart K’Harma Leeds (Alison Lohman) that might earn him a few hundred bucks. He takes in the homeless Toby (the excellent Michael Pitt), an actor who serves as his assistant until Toby hits it big and dumps Les. In a movie of easy targets, DiCillo gratifyingly takes no cheap shots. And Buscemi makes this pathetic and potentially lethal shutterbug a figure of surprising humor and compassion.

I LOVED THIS MOVIE! I think that is quite possibly the best of the pixar movies. As I said in my review of "Alpha Dog" which you should check out, I very rarely give out 4 star ratings, but "Ratatouille", "Alpha Dog", and "Superbad", are an exception. This is by far the best animated movie of the year. As of today, is number 2 on my greatest movies of the year list. It is a great story. It is about friendship, Paris, and a rat that knows how to cook up a darn good meal. It is also very funny, family friendly, heartwarming, sweet, and fun for kids. Ratatouille is superb. I give it "4 out of 4 stars." Check out my review of Hot Rod also.

Ratatouille. This movie has not-so-well-known actors, though they are known within certain groups. The main character, Remy (a rat), is voiced by Patton Oswalt. Patton is mostly known as Spence from the comedy King of Queens. And Linguini (human), who eventually discovers Remy, is voiced by Lou Romano. Lou had done a minor voice, Snotrod, in the 2006 Pixar film Cars and done the voice of Bernie Kropp in one of Brad Bird's other movie, The Incredibles.

Pixar does it again, and I'm glad I have two little girls that give me the never -ending excuse of having to attend children's films. The pace might me considered slow by some viewers at times, but to me in this MTV -influenced age of short attention spans, the opportunity for actual plot development is refreshing. The characters in this film are so well developed and written for that, along with the usual great animation , makes this movie is an instant classic.'Can't wait for the DVD.

A delighful movie that is also good public relations for rats. The rodents invoke terror in real life but they are indeed very intelligent. This endearing movie is for the entire family.
