Filmed in 1969 during a Nashville DJ convention and at the Grand Ole Opry, this obscure documentary plays like a real-life version of Robert Altman's Nashville. Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Charley Pride, Loretta Lynn and others perform with a down-home camaraderie that's light-years away from the city's slick current sounds. Not even a lousy DVD transfer from faded film can diminish the ragged charm of this peephole into a bygone world.
