Harry Potter director Chris Columbus drains the bohemian blood from Broadway's rock rewrite of Puccini's opera La Boheme but leaves the musical's tender heart intact. Writer and composer Jonathan Larson tells a tear-jerking tale of gentrification, drug addiction, AIDS and survival, yet his own life story documented in depth on the packed two-disc edition is far more tragic.
