For those who think New Zealand's Peter Jackson sprung full blown as the director of The Lord of the Rings trilogy, this 1994 spellbinder should come as a revelation.

Kate Winslet and Melanie Lynskey star in this true story of two teens driven to murder by obsession and sexual hysteria. The DVD beautifully captures the animation and innovative effects that Jackson used to plunge the viewer into a world of demented fantasy.
