Y Tu Mama Tambien
Starring: Maribel Verdú, Gael García Bernal, Diego Luna, Diana Bracho, Emilio Echevarría
Directed by: Alfonso Cuarón
2001 Comedy
There's more than sex to this spellbinder from Mexican director Alfonso Cuaron. There's keen social observation, political satire, surprising tenderness and even tragedy. But it's the erotic pow of the film that hits you first as a married woman in her twenties (Maribel Verdu) goes on the road with two teen horn dogs (Diego Luna and Gael Garcia Bernal).
The DVD transfer looks gorgeous, and the extras include audio commentary from the actors (Luna and Bernal laugh uproariously at every scene in which they appear nude), a making-of featurette that shows how the boys fake jerking off on a diving board while a prop man drops fake spooj into the pool, and three deleted scenes that are described as steamy, though one is just an old man whistling. No matter. This one is a keeper.
