You might be tempted to laugh off this 1955 cheapie about a giant octopus who damn near eats San Francisco. But you can only gaze in awe at the creature effects created by Ray Harryhausen, the legend behind such stop-motion classics as Mighty Joe Young and Jason and the Argonauts.

The disc includes a bonus feature on Harryhausen, who only had the budget to animate his octopus with six tentacles instead of eight and still worked miracles.
