Italian For Beginners, which is set, oddly enough, in Copenhagen, focuses on a group of lonely singles who hope to spark their lives by taking Italian lessons. The film, written and directed by Lone Scherfig according to the strict, un-Hollywoodish standards of Dogma 95, ends up in Venice, and, believe it or not, these melancholy Danes create something sweetly sexy, funny and touching.
