When George Carlin recites his seven dirty words, it's like Skynyrd playing the opening riff to "Free Bird" -- the capacity for surprise or even meaning is long gone, but the crowd still goes wild. When the dirty-words riff on this DVD was taped in 1977, the bit had already become more about the bit itself than about the dirty words. Compiled from HBO specials taped between 1977 and 1988, these routines show that -- as any third-grader could have told you -- it's really the fart material that kills anyway.
