The late 1990s will be remembered either for the dot-com boom or as the years when Kevin Williamson hijacked pop culture. Following on the heels of Scream, Williamson conquered television with this teen soap about "weak knees and sweaty palms." His characters were hyperarticulate teens -- little adults with teenage hormones. Dawson's Creek quickly devolved into who-cares theatrics, but for thirteen sweet episodes -- as long as Williamson could humanly keep Dawson and Joey apart -- everything clicked.
