Al Pacino plays a cop who can't sleep, which gives the advantage to the killer (Robin Williams) he's chasing across the frozen tundra. Director Christopher Nolan follows Memento with another suspense triumph that brings out the best in Pacino and Williams.

I'd hoped that extras would illuminate the striking differences between the 1997 Norwegian version of Insomnia (Criterion) and this haunting remake. Instead, we get Pacino and Nolan blowing artsy smoke up each other's ass and interviews with real-life insomniacs (yawn!).

Insomnia is one of those movie's when you first read about it in your weekend newspaper, you think it's just another well acted Al Pacino cop movie. Well folks to tell you the truth, it's way beyond that. Al Pacino plays an LA cop trying to escape trouble back home. He is assigned to Alaska to investigate a murder of a teenage high school girl. This movie takes you on twists and turns, but it was a great twist to take. Best suspense movie I've seen in a while.
