As a casual fan of the first two, I approached this with little prejudice against Brett Ratner (who's name I didn't even know anyway). I expected to enjoy the continuation of these charachters who'd succeeded in entertaining me twice before.
I was quite shocked when, about 10 minutes in, I realised how fundamentally boring this film is. Any form of tension, dramatism or sincerity previously imbued in the franchise by Bryan "Superman seemed more interesting at the time" Singer had been dissolved in favour of tepid direction, mediocre acting and far, far too many explosions.
I was so uninterested after sitting through one hour, that I didn't even finish it, and I was on the edge of my seat watching X-men 2.
Not recommended for anyone with a brain.
And the fact that it earned more than the other two movies in the franchise? Proof that there are plenty of folks out there without one.
Boo.

You know, if these people had any idea how to keep to the source material they might actually be able to make something worth watching. But, no lets make a bunch of stuff go boom so everyone will ignore the fact we raped one of the best stories in comics history
