This beautifully crafted doc tells the story of John Lennon’s best friend and original Beatle Stuart Sutcliffe, “the James Dean of Hamburg.” As the group storms Germany, Sutcliffe’s love for Astrid Kirchherr and his desire to be a painter pull him away from the band. The film makes the case for Sutcliffe’s being a major artist had he not died so young.
