It took more than thirty years for the music of Darondo Pulliam to catch up to the myth. The singer-guitarist made a splash in the Bay area in the early Seventies -- he had a wicked falsetto, played sexy, earthy funk, wore tailored suits and drove a white Rolls-Royce. He recorded his first single, "Legs," in 1973 and disappeared after cutting two more (and now lives in Northern California as a retired physical therapist). Let collects the entire Darondo oeuvre; formidable tracks such as "Didn't I" and "My Momma and My Poppa" show that all the hype wasn't so misguided.
