In the 1970s, sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart successfully challenged the heavy testosterone in hard rock with Ann's keening, Zeppelin-like vocals and Nancy's monster pop-rock riffs. The Eighties were the best and worst of times for the band -- big hair, bigger radio hits, a sense of compromise. But with Jupiters Darling, the Wilsons return to their early form. The production -- by Nancy and guitarist Craig Bartock -- gives Ann's voice the powerhouse space it deserves, and hearing the sisters truly doing it for themselves in "The Perfect Goodbye" and "Led to One" is magic, man.
