Sisters Donna and Vikki Simpson, and Joshua Cunningham make soulful folk redolent of their native Australia, evoking long dusty drives, peaceful outdoor space and campfires under a vast expanse of stars. On their fourth album, lonesome harmonica and wailing dobro holler across a deep acoustic groove and beneath the blood harmonies formed by Vikki's sweet answer to Donna's laconic delivery. There's a reason they have opened for Bob Dylan and were the first Australian group to grace the Newport Folk Festival -- it's these intimate, heartfelt songs that move at the speed of a road trip. If you don't fall in love with Donna when she eschews gold and pearls in favor of a "1962 ruby red interior R-series Valiant" on the opening "Fisherman's Daughter," you must have a stone where your heart should be.
