It's a cute idea for the Obama era: a soul disc starring a gaggle of hipsters (members of TV on the Radio, Calla and Amy Winehouse's backing band) rolling out psychedelic funk written and produced by two New York DJs. The sticky beats nearly redeem the flute solos, laser blasts and Jesus jive. But it takes a rapper — Lady Tigra of Eighties greats L'Trimm — to cut through the hokum with sass about the city's dark side, Wall Street and this new age.
