U.K. buzz dudes Razorlight have spent the past half–decade scaling charts at home, but their foggy melodrama has yet to dent the U.S. The band's piano–shambles and scolding sentiments frequently conjure no less a Yank than Billy Joel: "The House" could even be sung from the point of view of the kid in "Captain Jack" whose dad drowned in that swimming pool. But most of the time, the lyrics are vague and unformed, and when they aren't, the band's lyrical details seem too singularly British to translate — Americans might identify with being "raised by the radio in a broken home," but not in a song set in North London.
